VU Polytechnic Graduation 2022

VU Polytechnic Graduation 2022

By Dr Vivienne Decleva

The Victoria University Polytechnic Graduation on Monday 22 March 2022 was a wonderful event.

There is always something special about seeing former students, especially those who during the pandemic had many challenges, walking up the stage looking so proud of their achievements.

It is often forgotten the importance that graduation has for the graduates and their families. It is a time of completion, celebration and congratulations. An event that will be remembered in the years to come.

I believe that the transition from student to professional occurs only once in life. There may be other graduations, also important, but the first Graduation marks the transition from non-professional to professional.

The graduation on 22 March 2022 had another special significance for many of our Diploma of Nursing graduates. It was also the day they started their Bachelor’s Degree. For them, this day signified the end of one phase and the beginning of a new one. My best wishes for their future studies.

The other teachers and I sat next to our former students. The graduands were a bit nervous. So it was good that we were close to them.

Just behind the Diploma of Nursing students was another former student. She graduated last year, but was now graduating with a Graduate Certificate in Law. It was a pleasure and surprise to see her graduating again.

One of the Diploma of Nursing graduates, Tammy Peters, won the University Medal – congratulations to Tammy. Being awarded the University Medal is a great honour.

After the ceremony, I met several families and acted as their photographer.

Congratulations to VU Polytechnic for hosting a wonderful graduation ceremony once again. Congratulations also to graduates, teachers, coordinators, managers, and support staff. Well done to all!!!
